DAY 181: First Day of Bikram Yoga.
K, Almira, and I went to our first class of Bikram Yoga. Just in case some of you might not know what it is here is a brief description.
Bikram Yoga is not just exercise. It increases strength, flexibility, balance, endurance, concentration, patience and willpower. To get the same workout at a gym you would have to lift weights for 90 minutes, stretch for 90 minutes, balance for 90 minutes, sit in the sauna and meditate, and you still wouldn’t get the same benefits provided in this 90 minute yoga series. Bikram Yoga is a great workout for your body and your mind. It said to help lose weight (which I don’t need to do), relieve chronic pain, improve focus and clarity, reduce stress (great stress reliever!), reshape your body, and strengthen your immune system.
The room is heated up to 105 degrees and its about a 90 minute class doing 26 different types of postures. I can tell you that this class kicked my ass today! I never felt so dehydrated and I really need to drink plenty of water before the next class. I’m definitely doing it again and taking advantage of the 1 week unlimited yoga for $20. I asked the hubbs if he wanted to do it with me when he comes back but he says “will see” LOL.
After doing a great job we treated ourselves to dinner at Tender Greens in Point Loma, took my aussie friend [down to the town]—so she says for a great night out around Gaslamp. :)
